Communication to Italian researchers
While on secondment to Augmented Reality for Commercial and Didactical Applications (ARCADIA, Italy) in October 2025 researchers from the Institute of Agricultural Resources and Economics (Latvia) visited also other Italian project partners and contributed to the organisation of seminars. Inga Šarenkova presented ‘Agricultural Sustainability – By-Product Valorization’ and Kitija Ulme ‘Molecular Biology and Its Role in AREI’
NanoInnovation 2025
During the NanoInnovation 2025 Conference and Exhibition (Rome, 15-19 September) the project coordinator Dr.Roman Viter chaired a Workshop ‘Sensors for agriculture’ with two sessions: ‘Design, development and characterization of novel nanostructures for sensor applications’ and ‘Novel nanostructured gas, electrochemical and optical sensors for agriculture application', the last one specially organised for the Sense4corn project.
As part of the Sense4corn project, researcher from the Field Plant Breeding and Agroecology Department of AREI Līvija Zariņa presented an oral report on Remote sensing assessment for sustainable field crop management.
During the event, a local meeting among Sens4Corn partners was organised
Seminar on promoting scientific cooperation at Kaunas University of Technology
On 21 July 2025 an informative seminar was held at the Institute of Materials Science of Kaunas University of Technology (KTU), during which Kristīne Irtiševa, a representative of AREI (Institute of Agroresources and Economics), introduced Lithuanian colleagues to the opportunities for scientific cooperation in Latvia. The seminar was organised within the framework of the Sens4corn project.
The main goal of the seminar was to promote international cooperation between Latvian and Lithuanian scientific institutions, with a particular focus on:
- Development of joint research projects
- Sharing of scientific infrastructure
- Exchange of good practices in research methodology
- Promoting the mobility of young scientists
- Development of interdisciplinary research
83rd International Scientific Conference of the University of Latvia
The ARGO project partners participated to the 83rd International Scientific Conference of the University of Latvia. A special Workshop ‘Horizon Europe programme MSCA-SE projects at the Institute of Atomic Physics and Spectroscopy, FST, University of Latvia' was organised on 14 February for five MSCA-SE projects implemented at the Institute of Atomic Physics and Spectroscopy. The aim of the workshop was to present results from the MSCA-SE projects with interdisciplinary topics in physics, chemistry, nanomaterials and medicine.
The Workshop featured presentations on research and summaries of the talks are collected in the Book of Abstracts issued by University of Latvia. The Sens4Corn project was represented by four speakers: two from the co-ordinator’s team and two from CNR-STEMS (Italy). Italian partner was represented by Valentina Gargiulo speaking on ‘Production of core-shell Metal Organic Frameworks (MOFs) Hybrids for Sensing Applications’ (book of Abstracts, page 25) and Ambra Fioravanti with ‘Hydrothermal synthesis and characterization of h-WO3 pure and doped with transition metal ions’ (page 28). The co-ordinating organisation was represented by Viktor Zabolotnii speaking on ‘Investigation of polymorphism in organic luminophores’ (page 26) and PhD student Iryna Tepliakova with ‘Photochemical sensor application of Salan-type ligands TFA salts for Cu²⁺ and Fe³⁺ detection in aqueous media’ ( page 27).
The conference facilitated networking opportunities and strengthened international cooperation within the Horizon Europe framework
NanoInnovation 2024
Researchers form the Institute of Atomic Physics and Spectroscopy Dr. Roman Viter, Dr. Mindaugas Tamosiunas, as well as research assistant Viktor Zabolotnii and engineer Kārlis Grundšteins have attended NanoInnovation 2024 event in Rome, Italy. Research achievements on current projects have been presented. New contacts with Italian industry and stakeholders have been established. During the event, a local meeting between Sens4Corn partners from University of Latvia and CNR STEMS Naples was organised to discuss project progress and secondments to Riga. Next year Sens4Corn project will organise a separate workshop on materials for sensors during NanoInnovation 2025
